Coppicing Workshop
Turning theory into practice - Hazel Coppicing at Spurrell's Wood
There were fifteen people at the recent Hazel Coppicing Workshop at Spurrell's Wood. The event was kindly sponsored by Norfolk Wildlife Trust, as part of their Wildlife in Common project. As well as gaining an appreciation of the history of this particularly ancient form of woodland management, we all learned new skills and did some useful habitat management work into the bargain. And as if that wasn't enough, the whole thing was filmed for Anglia TV as part of a soon-to-be broadcast prime-time news item on conservation!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this an informative, enjoyable and practical day of wildlife conservation.
