A Visit to Gressenhall Tree Nursery

Eight of our volunteers made a fact-finding visit to Norfolk County Council’s community tree nursey at Gressenhall.
We were welcomed by Emma Cross who was an absolute fount of knowledge on everything to do with growing trees from seed. She showed us their facilities, including raised beds where many little trees were growing in neat rows; an irrigation system; a polytunnel where they process seeds in the winter; and storage unit for tools, seeds and, importantly, tea urn.

We finished off with a cup of tea and biscuits and a chance to get lots of our questions answered. It was a really informative and interesting trip, and we are hoping to put our newfound knowledge into practice by creating our own tree nursery. Huge thanks to Emma!
