Felbeck Trust monitors wildlife at all its North Norfolk sites year-round, but once a year we take a special ‘deep dive’ in one spot.

Come along and experience this intensive hands-on day, which brings together volunteers, trustees, members of the public, and wildlife identification experts to survey the species of birds, bats, moths, butterflies, bees, flies, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, plants and fungi at the site.

Having as many eyes and ears as possible makes a real difference, and you don’t have to be an expert, or even a grown up, to take part. No need to book, just come along, and we will provide the refreshments. There will also be guided walks and a chance to get involved in identifying moths from our overnight traps.

At our last big BioBlitz (West Beckham Old Allotments), with the public’s help we found and identified 267 different species in one day, including six species of dragonfly/damselfly, four species of bat, and 42 bird species. This exciting information is important in helping us to restore and manage the habitats of our native wildlife.

2025’s event is on Sunday 8th June at Sustead. It starts at 10am and ends at 4pm.

Please walk or cycle if you can. There is limited car parking at the site, and additional parking will be at the top of the field by the church.

On the evening of Saturday 7th June there is the chance to join our experts on bat walks or moth trapping. These activities start at 9pm, so are less suitable for younger children or anyone who likes to go to bed early. Please book for the evening activities by emailing newsletter@felbecktrust.org.uk.
