Felbeck Trust held its fourth BioBlitz at Sustead Common over the weekend of June 7th-8th, with 27 people participating. The weather was rather mixed, which impacted on some of the BioBlitz activities: the Bat Walk only managed to locate three species – which did include Barbastelle, though – and the mothing only produced 50 of 20-odd species (but did include one new for the site).

We had a bird-ringing display for the first time and we did add some new insects to the list, including Peacock Beetle. David did some river sampling and we await his results. A new fungus species was also found. All in all, a pretty good effort – not to mention the vast quantities of cake consumed!
