Moth Fest at Stow Heath Bioblitz

As usual we started with a bat walk the day before the main BioBlitz. There was plenty of bat activity, with the detectors clicking away over a quite wide range of frequencies. Meanwhile, the moth trappers, Jane and Jake, were setting up two moth traps.

When I returned in the morning I was greeted by a cock-a-hoop Jane and Jake, whose morning had been very busy sorting through an amazing 692 moths. They identified 120 species in total, with many of these being new for the site, as our previous list stood at 43. Find out more about these and other additions to our lists in the July Newsletter.
