Wildlife Discovery Day

The culmination of a very busy week was attending Sheringham Town Council’s Wildlife Discovery Day, designed to encourage people to engage with nature and promote gardening for wildlife.

The morning was devoted to children’s activities, and was apparently well attended, but we were busy at our Stow Heath BioBlitz. In the afternoon NWT’s Wildlife Ambassador and Felbeck Trust Patron, Nick Acheson, compered a series of interesting talks about the benefits of gardening for wildlife, and how to do it, with much emphasis on connectivity.

After the break, Felbeck Trust’s Chair, Trevor Williams, gave a presentation describing the activities of Felbeck Trust and how they improve patches of habitat for wildlife. He then went on to give an impassioned call for action, outlining the plans of the Upper Bure and Glaven Conservation Triangle to boost wildlife connectivity by facilitating link-ups between individuals, community groups, landowners and conservation groups to take action for nature. It seems to have struck a chord, as we had a good number of participants coming to look at our Felbeck Trust/Triangle display afterwards.
