Happy 2017 - a reason to be cheerful!
What a way to start-off the New Year - the launch of a new wildlife conservation charity for Norfolk - Felbeck Trust. New Year is traditionally the time for making resolutions - well here’s one to challenge you! Lets make 2017 a year when we start to reverse the decline in the fortunes of many of our native species - be it plants, bugs, butterflies or birds. As the ‘State of Nature’ report, published last summer, so dismally highlighted - 56% of all the species surveyed (nearly 8,000 across the full spectrum of flora and fauna) were doing worse than the previous survey. 15%, or more than one in ten, of those species are likely to be permanently lost from these shores, unless we do something now to stem that decline. It may not seem much - this certainly isn’t conservation on a grand scale, but to borrow a well-worn slogan from the retail sector - ‘every little helps’. In 2017, Felbeck Trust will start restoring several site of potential wildlife value in Norfolk - transforming the overlooked into the much looked over! Watch this space for more details of those positive changes - but more than that, get involved yourself. Make 2017 the year you helped us to bring back wildlife to our countryside.
