Sustead Common
A small moment in Felbeck Trust history was created this afternoon when, with the assistance of the National Trust Lead Ranger, we installed a lock on the farm gate at the entrance to the Sustead Common site. It’s well and truly ours and now the habitat restoration work begins! I’m hoping to get the pedestrian gate installed before our National Nest Box Week event there in early February. After doing a small amount of bramble-bashing - trying to assess the best route for the ‘permissive path’, I did manage to see a few birds. Mostly common stuff but Siskin, Bullfinch, Sparrowhawk and Golden Plover were all noteworthy records.
