New bird for Sustead Common
Photo from near-by Febrigg
I was down at The Common this weekend when I heard a familiar call - I looked up and there, amongst a roving tit flock was a Marsh Tit. This is the first record for the site of this species. Having suffered a dramatic decline in the sixties, the British population of Marsh Tit stabilised until recently, when sharp declines have again been recorded. We're lucky to have this bird at Sustead - I hope it stays.
