One volunteer went to mow...

Not one but ten enthusiastic volunteers turned out at Sustead Common today for our autumn meadow mowing. The team had enough energy to go on to cut the grass on the adjacent Surveyor's Allotment and Roadside Nature Reserve. Once all the vegetation was cut, it was carefully raked and the leavings removed. This is a vital process in our habitat restoration programme on the site and is essential for reducing nutrients and enhancing the conditions under which wildflowers can flourish - helping re-boot the natural food-chain.
