The Next Generation

‘I had an hour to spare yesterday so decided to have a stroll around the Sustead Common complex. Recent rains and longer days have accelerated growth - thick understory and lush grassland have produced an abundance of insect life. Ideal for feeding parents. In Spurrell’s Wood I found at least two of the nest-boxes close to the path had young families of Blue Tit in them. Over the road, on the Surveyors Allotment, a freshly fledged brood of Blackcap.

If you work hard to improve the vegetation - base layer of nature's food chain - the rest will follow.’
